Alex and Tyler met in the summer of 2012 at the Youth to Youth summer conference in Rhode Island. Alex grew up in the Youth to Youth program, an organization dedicated to drug prevention and teen empowerment. Tyler started attending summer conferences in high school and got hooked. In 2012, Alex was serving as the conference nurse and Tyler worked on the administrative staff. They became fast friends. The pair would see each other just once or twice a year for the next several years but always gravitated towards each other when they were together.
In 2018, Alex and Tyler attended the wedding of two mutual friends. They found a new kind of chemistry and have been together ever since. They spent two years dating long distance before Alex followed Tyler to Washington DC. Tyler surprised Alex with a ring on vacation in Rhode Island last May, not far from where they first met. This October, ten years after they became fast friends, Tyler and Alex will become husband and wife.
