Traveling to Ravello

You will fly into Rome or Naples. From there, you can take a bus, train, or rent a car to get to Ravello. There are many car services available as well. There are also private shuttle options, which could accommodate a group of people. Naples is closer than Rome, which would make for a shorter trip to Ravello; however, Rome is a larger airport with more options. Perhaps you consider flying domestically to an airport which has flights to Naples if your local airport does not. Some hotels in the area will provide a shuttle service from the airport- be sure to inquire when you book.

Rome2Rio is a nifty website in which you can enter exactly where you are travelling from/to, and it will provide recommendations for several modes of transportation. We recommend checking this out.

Between buses, trains, rental cars, and driver services, there is a wide range of options in terms of speed and price. Alex and Tyler are flying into Rome and will have 47 bags to manage, so we were planning on getting a driver to Ravello. We were a bit disappointed that the quotes for these services are considerably higher than what we were told to expect. For that reason, we’ve added a section to the website called Travelling With Friends, where you can let others know your plans and work on combining trips to split costs if you want. The best rate we have found for a private car from Rome (FCO Airport) to Ravello was 450€. We’re using D&D Travelling Sorrento. You can email Francesco at info@dedtravellingsorrento.com if you are also interested in a private car. The train is a great option if you feel like you can manage your luggage. From Naples, a car service should come in under 200€. You could also hail a cab or get a bus ticket to a nearby town.

For the ambitious few of you who plan on renting a car, just be sure to look into the international driving permit you’ll need before you arrive.
